Privacy Policy
Effective 8 September 2026. Applies to the Lazy Skipper iOS app.
The short version
Lazy Skipper does not collect, store or share any personal data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party SDKs, and the app does not talk to our servers — it has none. Everything you enter stays on your iPhone.
What stays on your device
- Vessel profile — vessel name, call sign or MMSI, number of people on board, a short description of the boat. You enter it yourself so the app can fill your distress-call script. It is stored only in the app’s local storage.
- Checklist progress — which items you have ticked.
- Settings — language, units, values you typed into calculators (draught, mast height, and so on).
Deleting the app deletes all of it. Nothing is backed up by us; standard iCloud device backups are governed by Apple’s privacy policy.
Location
The “VHF & distress” section can insert your current position into a MAYDAY / PAN-PAN script in radio format (degrees and minutes). The app asks for location permission only when you tap the position banner, uses it only “while in use”, processes it on the device and never transmits it anywhere. The permission is optional: without it the section works fully and you can type the position by hand. You can revoke it at any time in iOS Settings.
Network
The app works offline and makes no network requests of its own. The “Where to get a forecast” section contains links to external weather websites; tapping a link opens it in your browser, and that website’s own privacy policy applies.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and, as stated above, collects no data from anyone.
Your rights
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete on your behalf — everything is under your control on your device. If you believe this policy is inaccurate or have any question, write to us.
Changes
If a future version starts to process data differently (for example, optional downloadable audio courses), this policy will be updated before that version is released, with the effective date above.
